Lately

Wow, these last few months have flown by. I had originally planned on writing at least 3 blogs a month but now its almost February and I havent shared one since November. Oops. As I would put it, Ive been running around with my head cut off.

Lets start at the beginning of December…

Going into December I knew it was going to be crazy. Crazy busy but also crazy good and fun!

I started out photographing The Buck Before Christmas, a youth bull riding event in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. How did I get ropped into that? Well a mutual friend connected me with the Raise Em Rank owner. Its always about who you know and not what you know. It was an awesome event and everyone was dressed in their best Christmas get up. I even wore an ugly christmas sweater and my green cowboy hat. The bulls were great with even better young, tough cowboys.

Next, I was getting ready for NFR (National Finals Rodeo) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Holy smokes, I was so excited but really stressing about outfits. Im always a better packer and outfit planner when it comes down to the last minute. I finally made all my choices and was really proud of some of my outifts. I only bought about 3 outfits and the rest were pieces from my closet. I was not about to buy 10 whole new outfits when I have some amazing pieces already. Save your money girls, you can rewear your clothes. One of my friends and I took off on December 12th and DROVE 20 hours to Vegas. Some people thought we were crazy for driving but flights were outrageously expensive. The drive wasnt bad on the way there.. we drove straight through and only stopped for gas. We arrived in Vegas at 6am on the 13th and the rest is history. We went to the rodeo, saw Miranda Lambert in concert, did some shopping and had some really good food and drinks. I will share way more about NFR in another blog.

When we got home it was about Christmas time so I had to unpack everything and get packed again to head to my parents house for the holiday and for my next trip! We had our big family Christmas get together at my Uncles house and it was so good to spend some time with the family. The day after Christmas I was off onto my next adventure…

December 26th at 7am I took off for Arkansas. I was going waterfowl hunting for the first time! One of my Instagram friends was hosting some all girls hunts and I was so excited to meet everyone in person. The 12 hour drive was nothing compared to the 20 hour drive to Vegas. I hunted with multiple groups of girls for 5 days and I learned SO much, we all did. Talking with other hunters from all over the United States is a learning experience. Everyone hunts differently depending on where theyre from and how they grew up doing it. After my 5 days with the girls I headed a few more hours south to go to Bust-A-Duck, a hunting outfitter in Agusta, AR. Now, I didnt hunt there but I did photograph groups of hunters that came in from Ohio, Flordia and some other states. Ill also share way more about this in depth in another blog as well. I got home January 5th and was tired but so grateful for everything.

It hasnt been quite as busy recently, which sometimes drives me crazy not doing anything but it is nice being in my daily routine again. Keep an eye out for my NFR and Waterfowl hunting blogs! Ill share tips and tricks and some good resources in them as well!

Till next time friends.

Live a life you will remember!

Yours truly -Damia
